Class assignment on Salem Witch Trials?

Im taking a course in high school and its on history to the sixteenth century. We have to write a final essay and I was thinking Salem witch trials since it takes place 1692-1693, but I dont think I can do it because the centuries are ahead or something like that, right? So can I do it or not?
