What are the laws concerning selling food and drink?

me and my friends were looking to sell cans of drink (tango, 7UP and coke) in the local high streets and town to raise some money for our business as capital. Were not looking to start a business in selling food and drink but do want to sell it to raise money. I have heard that i may need a license to sell it, it that trust?
