Sixteenth birthday party ideas in New York City?

I'm turning 16 in July and i really want to do something different for my birthday instead of having a sweet sixteen and i really want to go into the city with a group of my friends both guys and girls. i want to do something more then just a fancy place to eat dinner, are there any places that have fun entertainment at the restaurants or other paces that do something fun like the awesome 80s prom. any ideas would be great!
